Studying Japanese takes a lot of courage. After all, learning not only the grammar but as much as 3 different writing systems is quite the task. Despite students being initially nervous when taking a Japanese course, our sensei Yuuka-san has found that by encouraging learners to speak a lot of Japanese early during their studies will translate into gaining sufficient confidence about what they are capable of during the course.
Because I like teaching Japanese and I hope that by doing so I am helping and motivating students to visit and enjoy the many beautiful places Japan has to offer.

I think that overall, the Japanese language has some straightforward grammar. However, there are different nuances that are a bit challenging both for teachers to explain and for students to understand.
The Japanese language has honorifics (Keigo). Although it is not required for foreigners to speak using Keigo, it is important for them to understand it. In my experience, students can struggle learning these honorifics.
Once you have reached a meaningful level of knowledge in the language, then you will be able to easily learn new words and slangs by simply watching Japanese TV shows and other media. This learning just comes naturally without much effort.
By encouraging them to speak a lot of Japanese in our classes, eventually they gain sufficient confidence about what they are capable of doing and that motivation comes from within.
First of all, let's learn hiragana so that you become capable of reading Japanese! By doing so, when you go to Japan, you will be able to read and understand the sign boards and menus, and you will have more fun learning overall.
I have learned English, Korean, and Chinese before.
I recommend Natto which is a traditional food in Japan. It's a bit stinky but the taste is awesome. Please try to eat it with white rice.
